Prevention of Dementia is the topic of my discussion on What is Dementia today. Prevention of Dementia is very necessary for us to know.

There are some things that can help to prevent senility / dementia due to vascular disease (vascular dementia), as well as in cardiovascular disease that can lead to stroke and heart attack.

Here are some things you can do to prevent vascular dementia, which took from nhs.uk medicastore:
  • Eating healthy foods
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Perform regular exercise
  • Reduce or avoid alcohol consumption
  • Do not smoke
  • Make sure the blood pressure is always controlled and routinely checked
  • If you have diabetes, keep your constantly diet and consumption of drugs given as directed by a doctor.
Maintain healthy eating
  • To help prevent senility / dementia, foods low in fat and high in fiber is recommended. Which include high-fiber foods are vegetables and fruits and whole grains.
  • Limit salt intake to <6 grams (about 1 teaspoon) / day. Too much salt can increase blood pressure, which would also increase the risk for vascular dementia.
  • Avoid consuming foods high in saturated fat content, because it can increase cholesterol levels, which can also increase the risk for vascular dementia. To lower cholesterol, can consume foods that contain unsaturated fats such as avocado, oily fish, nuts and olive oil.
